The Governor of East Java, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, has issued a warning to residents planning to travel during the Eid al-Fitr holiday period to be mindful of potential extreme weather. She emphasized the importance of being prepared for heavy rain, strong winds, and high waves, which have been predicted in several areas.
Governor Khofifah urged travelers to prioritize safety by regularly checking weather forecasts from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). Staying informed about weather updates will allow travelers to make informed decisions and potentially avoid hazardous conditions.
In addition to monitoring weather forecasts, the governor advised residents to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on their journeys. This includes checking tires, brakes, and other crucial components to minimize the risk of accidents or breakdowns.
The governor’s warning comes as millions of Indonesians are expected to travel across the country for the Eid al-Fitr holiday, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The increased traffic volume, combined with unpredictable weather conditions, can create dangerous situations on roads and waterways.
She also encouraged travelers to take necessary precautions, such as packing appropriate clothing and supplies, and to be prepared for potential travel delays.
By highlighting the importance of safety and preparedness, Governor Khofifah aims to ensure a smooth and incident-free Eid al-Fitr travel period for residents of East Java.
